Sneak peek: Amanda & Cory's gold and eggplant pocketfold invitations

I have a wedding invitation sneak peek to show you today! Amanda and Cory are getting married in July at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel and wanted to create classy, elegant stationery to match their stunning venue. Using colours found in the room, they decided on going with a gold pocketfold invitation with eggplant and cream accent colours. A classic, swirled stamp was used on the inside of the invitation and on the RSVP card, and an elegant monogram adorns the front of the invite. I can't wait to share the samples with this wonderful couple and promise to post more pictures once they've seen them and have made a final decision on which design they want to go with.

Light as a feather

Fabulous fall invitations

Today's invitation suite features one of my favourite stamp sets! The leaves are great for fall invitations and thank you cards. It's hard to tell from the picture, but I also used a special "faux" technique for the front of the invitation - it looks like silk but really isn't. Enjoy!

Laura and Chad's ranch-themed invitations

Last month, I posted a sneak peek of Laura and Chad's invitations. Well, I can now share the full photos of the invitations with you. The concept behind these invitations was the setting of Laura and Chad's wedding. They're getting married on a ranch, so we thought the tree image perfectly resembled the surroundings of their venue.

Front of invitations: The front of the invitations are dry embossed. For the image, I stamped the tree and outlined the edges with coordinating ink.

Inside of invitation: The inside of the invitation featured another stamp of the tree in the bottom right-hand corner. Hemp twine was wrapped around the top of the invitation with two tags that had "love" and "Mr. & Mrs." stamped on them.

I kept the response card simple, using the stamped tree image once again.

Ranch-style wedding inspiration board

I posted a sneak peek for Laura and Chad's invitations on Tuesday. They're having a ranch wedding at the end of August, and I thought this inspiration board from Snippet and Ink matched their colours and theme perfectly. I came across this after I already came up with their invitations design, but even the tree in this collage is like the tree on their invitations:

For the past few months, I have been working EXTREMELY hard on Laura and Chad's invitations for their ranch-style wedding in August. There are a lot of details on these invitations, and I think they're one of my favourite invitations yet! Here's a teaser of the invitations...I am dropping them off to Laura and Chad tonight and will post pictures of the actual invite and response card in a few weeks once their guests have received their invitations.

Wedding stationery timeline - when to send out save the dates, wedding invitations and thank you cards

One of the most common questions we get asked is when to send save the dates, invitations and thank you cards. Here are the timelines we advise brides to follow:

Save the dates


* 6 months if the wedding is local but there are a lot of out-of-town guests attending or you want to alert local guests to save the date.


* 12 months if you are having a destination wedding where guests will need to book vacation time and budget money for the trip.

Wedding invitations

* 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding date. Regardless of if you are sending save the dates or not, we do not recommend that invitations be sent out earlier than eight weeks prior to the wedding date. People tend to forget to respond if the response date isn’t “urgent” and we find that brides have to do more phone calls in the end.

If you want to alert your guests earlier than the two months prior to the wedding, we suggest you send out save the dates.



Thank you cards

* No later than three months after the wedding. Traditionally, the bride and groom had up to a year to thank their guests for gifts, but this is no longer the norm. Wedding etiquette experts acknowledge that the proper timeline to thank your guests for their generous gift is now no later than three months after the gift is received. In fact, thank you notes should be written immediately upon receiving the gift. Of course, the weeks leading up to the wedding are extremely hectic, so when possible, send out the thank you cards as soon as you are able to.

Pale plum, light blue and rose red invitation suite

As I mentioned on my blog post yesterday, I was inspired by this unique colour combination of pale plum, light blue and rose red. The colour combination reminded me of a sophisticated, cheery garden party, so I chose to use a damask pattern stamp and added some rhinestones to "jazz up" the invitation suite. Our favourite invitation suite yet

We had so much fun working on this invitation set! And judging by the reaction of all the brides and grooms at the Wedding Show on February 27, this was by far the biggest hit.

The colour combination has an elegant vintage feel to it, the bird punch image adds some fun to the suite, and the ribbon adds a unique and unexpected texture to the suite. Our favourite part is the little envelope on the save the date - your guest simply pull on the ribbon attachment to move the date outside of the envelope. Hope you have as much fun looking at this suite as we had making it!
